Sgt Mills Grenadier Guards

millsew

Reported to have been killed by being shot through the heart on 8th April 1918. NO evidence that he served abroad and no record of a Sgt Mills (Ernest) have been found. He was the brother of FE Mills. In his papers it states Ernest was in 3rd Grenadier Guards. In FE Mills paperwork for his death plaque Ernests name isn’t listed in the brothers section indicating that he is dead. There is much circumstancial evidence that Ernest Mills was killed, but no hard evidence.

The Grenadier Guards deny that Ernest served with them, However he is listed in the 1911 census is being with the 1st Bttn. There is no evidence of medals being awarded to him, so this is a bit of a mystery.
