Sittingbourne Avenue of Remebrance and Town Memorial
Sittingbourne as a town created two town memorials in additon to the other memorials within the town, even though there are many men who appear on a multitude of memorials.
Sittingbourne Town created a big stone memorial with the fallen mens names carved onto it. This was placed at Sittingbourne Rec. In addition to this a lime tree was planted for every man with a brass commemorative plaque, the road in which these trees were planted was renamed the Avenue of Rememberance.
I always remember the Stone memorial at the rec, but it was moved in the late 80′s to its current position in central avenue.
